The FP7 (Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development) is going to end in 2013: the main European stakeholders are already focusing on new priorities, challenges and funding tools.
The international roundtable, organized by Alma Food IRT – University of Bologna together with Italian Food for Life Technology Platform, aims at raising awareness on this new scenery, defining common strategies and sharing actions to approach the future European Food Research in relation to the Common Strategic Framework.
The main objective is to discuss on the Research and Innovation duality within the scenario of the next European funding opportunities (i.e. Joint Programming Initiatives -JPIs).
The event is open to the public and it will be a place for an international discussion on the thematic areas and topics that will be also part of the food-related JPIs ("Healthy Diet" and "FACCE"), with the main aim of aligning the co-funding from the program owners, at national and regional level, with the next European Joint Programs or future research funding initiatives fostering Innovation in the food sector (i.e. Kic’s).
The international roundtable will focus on a research that can be effectively transferred to the Food Industry in Europe in order to grow the regional and national economies and benefit European citizens’ well being and health.
The active roundtable will be the occasion for an open dialogue between the public and the invited speakers, which will be representatives of the main stakeholders of the food system in Europe.
The meeting will identify the international point of view on how the Food sector (with a particular attention to SMEs) is going to face the challenges and exploitation of the next joint Research and Innovation opportunities.
The major outcome of the event will be transferred to the European Commission, with a view to contributing to a potential roadmap to approach the Common Strategic Framework.
